Halloween @ Woodgrove Avenue

Happy Halloween ! I really excited tonight because I went to Halloween trick or treat at Woodgrove . Every 31th, Oct., the Halloween event are held there. It’s near American school, so almost residents are Americans or Europeans.
I’ve never seen such beautiful decorations, and a lot of houses opened their gate for trick or treat. A lot of kids and adults dressed up for Halloween. But their costumes were different from Japanese. Almost them were zombie and ghost, injure like makeup. But in Japan, people dress up to anything they want. For example, they dress up to Disney character, manga characters, Animals, TV personality, comedians and so on. They don’t care if the costumes aren’t related Halloween. Anyway a lot of people enjoyed Halloween. Unfortunately I didn’t dress up , I’ll try next year.

Co Hai Banh Mi@ Beach Road

I had never tried Banh Mi before I came to Singapore. It’s a Vietnamese sandwitch which is made of  baguette and some herb,  meat , vegetable. The baguette is different from European one, it’s made from wheat flour and rice flour. That texture was more crispy. So I’m hooked on it and I heard about good Banh Mi stall was beside Beach Road.

I tried co hai baguette $10, inside was ham, roasted pork, pate, and vegetable. Though the price was high, taste was really good. I love this baguette, it had  crispy texture.
I also tried pho, it’s a rice noodle with beef soup $8.9.  This was good. But I don’t have many experience about pho, so I can’t compare other pho.

Chen’s Mapo Tofu@ Downtown Gallery

Have you ever tried Mapo tofu at Shisen Hanten in Mandarin Orchard? No, I haven’t, but it quite famous here and Japan. And it got Michelin star, I’ve wanted to eat. I heard a good news, they opened a pocket friendly new stall. 

There’s on the 2nd floor in Downtown Gallery. I paid at front desk and received number, the waitress took us the table, and I got food at counter.

I had set meal $10.8, half Mapo don and dried Dan Dan Mien . They were hot and spicy! I couldn’t eat it all. But it was probably good taste . And I also had Katayaki. It’s a deep fried noodle with seafood. It was delicious! If you don’t like spicy food, you should try this.

This stall was not fancy, but I could have great food for casual.

Rich & Good Cake Shop@near Sultan Mosque

It’s been a while. I have to write a lot of places where I visited.

First of all, I’ll post about old school cake shop. There’s on the Kandahar st.,  near Sultan Mosque. It’s famous for Swiss roll. I went to there on weekdays afternoon, there were only mango, Kaya, durian roll, and I bought a mango one $7. This is my first time to eat Swiss roll in Singapore. It was good, I like more fluffy it, but there were some sliced mango inside it, it was worth eating.

Louis Vuitton Time Capsule @Ion Orchard

Louis Vuitton Time capsule exhibition is held at Ion Orchard from 18th October to 5th November . There is beside main entrance of Ion Orchard.
I went there on weekdays, since there was no que, I could enter soon.

It was a history of Louis Vuitton from 1821 to now. There were old trunk and travel bags, they’re beautiful even now. I’m really interested their crafting and collaborative products of recent years.

At last, I got a post card, it was so cute. Thanks Louis Vuitton!

Tea set@ TWG

I tried TWG breakfast and Tea at Ion branch before. It was narrow and Not comfortable. So I wanted to try Tea set and I went to Takashimaya branch. There was on the 2nd floor and specious tea room.

Tea set $19++ was available from 2pm to 6pm. It included one pot of tea and cake or scones or muffins. I tried a cake from trolley. I like earl gray , when I tried French Earl Grey before, I didn’t feel flavours so this time I chose breakfast Earl Gray and American Earl Gray.
Those tea were fantastic, I felt strong flavour, I could drink them tasty to the end. And cake was delicious, service were also good. It’s worth going. I definitely recommend TWG.

Blanco Court Prawn Mee @ Beach Road

This post is also about prawn mee. I’m hooked on it😆
Blanco Court Prawn Mee is close to Haji Lane, faced on the Beach Road. I ordered jumbo prawn noodle $8.8 at counter and paid, and also told them my table No.

I was surprised when I got the noodle . Because it didn’t have very nice appearance but it’s good . Honestly , since I had a good prawn mee just before, I didn’t feel hungry. I should come again and try.

Jalan Sultan Prawn Mee@Kallang

Nowadays I’m looking for good prawn mee, I heard that there’s a nice prawn mee stall near Kallang MRT station, so I went.

It’s across the MRT station, I got there easily. I had Sultan Prawn Mee $10 dry and soup. There were 4 prawn on the noodle and the prawn was treated to easy to eat. I felt strong prawn flavour and I liked this type of prawn mee. This is one of the prawn noodle I like best.

Island Penang kitchen @ West Coast Food Centre

Sometimes I have to go Clementi and then I always can’t decide what to eat.
There are good Popiah, Sakuraya, Ootoya, etc.

This time, I went to Island Penang Kitchen because one great blogger SG Food on foot wrote about it.

The restaurant was in the corner in a West Coast Food Centre. It was full in the lunch time. Since I requested inside table, I waited about 10 minutes. I could order while I was waiting.  I had a fried Kway Teow and Penang Laksa, crispy bean skin, Fried rice.
All of them were so yummy, except bean skin, especially Kway Teow was delicious! I should come again and I’ll try other food.

Ser seng herbal soup restaurant @ Potong Pasir

I happened to go there the other day. It’s a famous turtle soup restaurant! I went to prawn noodle stall next to turtle soup restaurant, but it was closed irregularly. I had no idea where the good food around here. At that time, I saw a restaurant next to it which were almost full. So I went.

At first, I didn’t know it’s a turtle soup restaurant. But I thought the price was high. So I read the menu carefully.....Oh, it was turtle!! But there were some Pork and other kind of soup, I ordered pork Organ soup $9, and steamed rice. The soup was good, like Bso Kut Teh. All other people had turtle soup, it looked delicious. Next time I will have turtle soup.

Creamier @Tiongbahru

I went to Creamier new branch. It was in front of  plain vanilla bakery and next to fourty hands.
They offered fewer kind of drink than other branch. But their signature waffles and ice cream were available. We can enjoy their Brewed and hand dripped coffee, and also some tea.

I had hand dropped coffee named pourover $6.5 and waffle with ice $9.3. I could choose from 3 kinds of coffee. I had a great time with good coffee and sweet.

Jian Bo Shui Kueh@ Tiongbahru FC

It’s pouring  every day! I hope it’d be nice weather tomorrow.

What is Shui kueh? There is Long que every day. I don’t know whether it’s a meal entree or not.
I wanted to try just a little but it was sold from 5 pieces. It was $2.5/5pcs. It looked like rice cake. The texture was similar to puddings . The shredded pickles were on the rice cake, eating with it, so yummy. It’s good for alcohol, I wanted to drink.

Loo’s hainanese curry rice@ Tiongbahru

I sometimes saw a long que in front of this stall. Since I wanted to try Hainanese curry , I went to there in this time. I asked to the shopper what’s recommend. They offered me curry with pork cutlet and vegetable. And he also offered flog, but I didn’t.

The curry was watery, but quite different from Indian curry. The taste was similar to Japanese curry. Vegetable and cutlet were so-so. Actually I like Japanese curry better than this.

Ah Chiang’s Porridge @ Tiongbahru

How’s your day?
It’s gotten hot, hasn’t it. I missed Japanese Autumn, it’s cool and genial. In Japan, since Autumn is harvesting season, almost food is delicious.

Anyway I had Porridge at Ah Ching’s in Tiongbahru. My friend took me there, there was on the far side of  the street. I arrived there before noon, so I could eat soon.

I chosen fish porridge and  minced meet Porridge. Although I forgot their prices , they’re quite cheap.   I preferred fish one, it’s yummy. I also had bean curd, it was soft and nice.
